Respecting our Environment

Wist has always been conscious of our environment. We've made Arizona our home for 70+ years, and we've always been committed to taking care of where we live. Here are a few examples of our commitment to sustaining our environment.

• Support and facilitate a program that urges carpooling/public transportation by employees whenever possible. Awards are given to staff who utilize public transportation each month.
• Promote careful regulation of internal temperature settings.
• Use of efficient evaporative coolers during the summer months

Delivery

To achieve fuel economy, Wist uses low-emission diesel engines in all delivery trucks.

Additionally:

• Follow delivery procedures and use route optimization software designed to maximize distribution while reducing overall fuel consumption.
• Support programs designed to encourage our customers to combine orders, reducing the number of deliveries.
• Use recycled and biodegradable packaging materials whenever possible.

Recycling

Wist collects empty ink and toner cartridges from many end users. These empties account for thousands of pounds of reclaimed plastic each year.

Recycling 1,000 cartridges saves approximately:

• 1,988 lbs of plastic
• 240 lbs of aluminum
• 679 lbs of steel
• 5 lbs of copper

Product Offerings

Wist makes it easy to shop green. Our catalog displays which products contain recycled material and which contain at least 30% post-consumer recycled content. We also offer 92 bright, white, acid-free paper for copiers and printers that is made from 100% recycled, post-consumer content. Our offerings include more than 3,600 products made from recycled materials, and more than 1,000 environmentally friendly products such as non-toxic cleaning supplies, organic and fair-trade coffees, and biodegradable dinnerware.
